Inspection methods and key points for diapers (sheets) and diaper products

Product Categories

According to the product structure, it is divided into baby diapers, adult diapers, baby diapers/pads, and adult diapers/pads; according to its specifications, it can be divided into small size (S type), medium size (M type), and large size (L type). ) and other different models.

Diapers and diapers/pads are divided into three grades: high-quality products, first-class products, and qualified products.

skills requirement

Diapers and diapers/pads should be clean, the leak-proof bottom film should be intact, no damage, no hard lumps, etc., soft to the touch, and reasonably structured; the seal should be firm. The elastic band is evenly bonded, and the fixed position meets the usage requirements.

The current effective standard for diapers (sheets and pads) is GB/T 28004-2011 "Diapers (sheets and pads)", which stipulates the size and strip quality deviation of the product, and the permeability performance (slippage amount, re-infiltration amount, leakage quantity), pH and other indicators as well as raw materials and hygienic requirements. Hygiene indicators comply with the mandatory national standard GB 15979-2002 "Hygiene Standard for Disposable Hygiene Products". The analysis of key indicators is as follows:

(1) Health indicators

img2

Since the users of diapers, diapers, and changing pads are mainly infants and young children or incontinent patients, these groups have weak physical resistance and are susceptible, so the products are required to be clean and hygienic. Diapers (sheets, pads) form a humid and closed environment when used. Excessive hygiene indicators can easily lead to the proliferation of microorganisms, thereby causing infection to the human body. The standard for diapers (sheets and pads) stipulates that the hygienic indicators of diapers (sheets and pads) should comply with the provisions of GB 15979-2002 "Hygienic Standards for Disposable Hygiene Products", and the total number of bacterial colonies  200 CFU/g (CFU/g means per gram The number of bacterial colonies contained in the tested sample), the total number of fungal colonies 100 CFU/g, coliforms and pathogenic pyogenic bacteria (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and hemolytic Streptococcus) shall not be detected. At the same time, the standards have strict requirements on the production environment, disinfection and sanitation facilities, personnel, etc. to ensure that the products are clean and hygienic.

(2)       Penetration performance

Permeability performance includes slippage, back seepage and leakage.

1. Slippage amount.

It reflects the product's absorption speed and ability to absorb urine. The standard stipulates that the qualified range of slippage amount of baby diapers (sheets) is 20mL, and the qualified range of slippage volume of adult diapers (sheets) is 30mL. Products with a large amount of slippage have poor permeability to urine and cannot quickly and effectively penetrate the urine into the absorption layer, causing urine to flow out along the edge of the diaper (sheet), causing local skin to be soaked by urine. It may cause discomfort to the user, thereby causing damage to part of the user's skin, endangering the user's health.

2. Amount of back seepage.

It reflects the retention performance of the product after absorbing urine. The amount of back seepage is small, which proves that the product has good performance in locking urine, can provide users with a dry feeling, and reduce the occurrence of diaper rash. The amount of back seepage is large, and the urine absorbed by the diaper will seep back to the surface of the product, causing long-term contact between the user's skin and urine, which can easily cause skin infection of the user and endanger the user's health. The standard stipulates that the qualified range of the amount of re-infiltration of baby diapers is 10.0g, the qualified range of the amount of re-infiltration of infant diapers is 15.0g, and the qualified range of the amount of re-infiltration of adult diapers (pieces) is 20.0g.

3.Leakage amount.

It reflects the isolation performance of the product, that is, whether there is any leakage or leakage from the back of the product after use. In terms of product performance, qualified products should not have leakage. For example, if there is seepage or leakage on the back of the diaper product, the user's clothes will be contaminated, which will in turn cause part of the user's skin to be soaked in urine, which may easily cause damage to the user's skin and endanger the user's health. The standard stipulates that the qualified range for leakage of infant and adult diapers (pieces) is 0.5g.

Qualified diaper pads, nursing pads and other products should have no seepage or leakage to ensure that they do not contaminate clothes during use.

(3) pH

The users of diapers are infants, young children, the elderly or people with limited mobility. These groups have poor skin regulation ability. If diapers are used for a long time, the skin will not have a sufficient recovery period, which can easily cause skin damage, thereby endangering the user's health. Therefore, It should be ensured that the acidity and alkalinity of the product will not irritate the skin. The standard stipulates that the pH is 4.0 to 8.5.
